  • Merry Christmas

Our family enjoyed a rather quiet Christmas together this year.  Brian's and Marcus' families are overseas right now, and none of our other relatives from a distance came in (save cousin Mark), so the masses were a little less massive than some years.  I've been spending a lot of time on the road between here and Baltimore in an attempt to be at home as much as possible over the hollidays.

Here Jenna and Tasha are lavishing love on their poor dolls that will soon be forgotten once the new gifts are opened and new babies had.

So the laptop really was like the coolest gift of the day. Anyway, it was a lovely day we ended it with a new tradition (or is it an old on) of roasted chesnuts.  Now it's on to the new year!

  • Family Camping

It feels like summertime is almost over...the good news is that it has barely begun.  The past few months our family has been incredibly blessed to have Brian's family in the states and living on the farm.  After two years it's been really great to be all-together-at-one-place again!  Some highlights included spending a day with their family in D.C., going to an airshow in OC, going to the beach, hanging with the kids, and just going over to the trailer in the morning for a cup of coffee with Janel.

Last week we enjoyed four days of camping together in the mountains before Brian's left to spend a month in Iowa.  I was a shutterbug, so I'll let the pics speak for themselves.

These little guys are so cute together.  I decided not to post the naked bath pics...but here is yet another photo op.  The expressions are just priceless.

Here's a cute guy....he's got a lot of energy for such a little guy. He proved that on our mountain hikes!

We did a lot of hiking while we were camping.  This trail was three miles long.  It went down the mountain along one spring and back up beside another.  There were over twenty waterfalls.  It was absolutely beautiful!

The second day we were there we hiked to an open top of the mountain.  The trail was lined with lots of ferns, mountain laurel and wild blueberries.  When we got to the top there was a huge patch of ripe blueberries....it was very "Blueberries for Sal"...I kept expecting to look up and see a bear-cub sharing the patch!

Of course after all that hiking we spent lots of time relaxing at the campsite!

  • Friends

They came from all over to spend the weekend in Baltimore...with a day trip planned to DC.  Marlena's last minute decision to catch the bus from NYC for the weekend was the icing on the cake.  Of course every good day of sightseeing starts with thorough investigation of the maps.

I was cruising my subscriptions when I ran across a friend's site.  I realized I'd better quickly post pics of the weekend or the whole wide world or is that the world wide web? would be disappointed.

How in the world did they put this thing together???

Some lovely friends I found at the WWII memorial.  Notice the H2O bottles?  It was a lovely warm day to be out on the mall.

The photographeed???  Is that a word?   I would like to say right here that we really missed you Carol.

Anyway that's all folks.  I would also like to forward you to Judi's site.  This may be just the nudge she needs to post some pics.

    Springtime in the City

I can't complain.  It's been 70 and sunny the last couple days.  Judi and I had some rare moments where we were BOTH in the city at the same time AND we both had time off.  Yesterday we went to the science museum and saw the Body Worlds 2 display.  Shocking.  It was highly recommended as a good anatomy display by her Physical Therapy teachers....and it was.  However, I walked around with that sick feeling in the pit of my stomach that I get whenever I look at the "real" pics in the back of the Anatomy and Physiology textbooks.  Real bodies..."plastinated"...a lot of muscles, bones and organs...not too much skin...but I decided not to donate my body for plastination.

In better news.  After we exited the science museum.  We headed out for an evening on the harbor.  And dinner at a favorite spot...outside!

  • Jet Lag....

What can I say?  I've made it safely to the good old USA....but am not really home yet.  Actually I've been here in my little city apartment working hard at my little city job.  72 hours in 7 days.  Three nights....two days...and now a night.

     Thailand my pics 004

The good news is that I haven't had a chance to feel any real effects of jet lag.  Pretty much it's just pass out every time I see a bed.

     Thailand my pics 001

Every once in a while I get 24 hours off instead of 12.  Then it's time to rest and relax.

    Thailand my pics 009

I think I'll be ok if I can just ride this thing out!
